Abstract

Wireless communication in tunnel environments presents unique challenges due to waveguide effects, multipath propagation, and signal attenuation. This comprehensive survey reviews wave propagation modeling techniques for tunnel environments, covering ray tracing, modal analysis, empirical models, and machine learning approaches. The study provides a systematic comparison of existing methods and identifies future research directions for next-generation tunnel communication systems.
